"Kilimanjaro is the place on our planet where you can get from the tropics to the Arctic the fastest. On the 25 kilometers that make up the direct ascent from the savannah to the polar summit, the mountain offers climatic conditions that otherwise extend over about 10,000 kilometers. This diversity of habitats in a small area makes Kilimanjaro a fascinating refuge for fauna and flora!" There are many ways to climb Kilimanjaro. Kibo, the highest of the three - "Kibo, Mawenzi, Shira" is the highest elevation on Kilimanjaro at 5895 m and is therefore rightly called the "Roof of Africa" or also known as Tanzania's freedom peak "Uhuru Peak". Kilimanjaro will cast its spell over you too, because it is not only an extremely beautiful mountain from afar, but also up on the summit, the sight of the bizarre ice giants is worth the effort. We hope that we will soon be standing together on this African landmark, experiencing this uniquely beautiful part of our earth together, letting ourselves be enchanted by the natural beauty, immersing ourselves in a world of incredibly friendly people and letting ourselves be infected by "African fever". About 3° south of the equator, directly on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, Africa's highest mountain rises at 5895 m. A wide-spreading base with dense rainforest and a snow-covered crown. Kilimanjaro has a base area of approx. 60 x 40 km and is the largest free-standing mountain on earth with fascinating climatic zones that extend from the tropical rainforest to the glaciated summit regions. To better acclimatize to the altitude, you can climb the 4565 m Mount Meru in advance on a 4-day introductory tour. It is located in the Arusha National Park, a small nature reserve. The ascent of Kilimanjaro via the Machame route to a height of around 4500 m is equivalent to a normal mountain hike in the alpine region of our latitudes. In addition to the best possible acclimatization, the Machame route also offers scenic diversity and beauty like no other route. However, the thin air and the relatively steep ascent on the last stage require enormous effort and willpower in the summit region. On the way we encounter a magnificently varied landscape. Dense rainforest is followed by open grassland zones until we reach the lunar landscape on the Kibo saddle and finally the glaciers in the summit area. Over the course of a few days we will cover around 1000 meters in altitude on the ascent and around 3000 meters in altitude on the descent. The average distance is around 11 km (6 hours) per day. At the summit it is even 15 km (up to about 15 hours!). The weather only affects the climb during the rainy season. We do not organize any tours during this time. During the night (ascent to Kili) you must expect frost, sometimes as low as 15 to 20° C below zero. You will enjoy the incomparable mountain experience with many breathtaking views over the vastness of Africa!
