Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater
* 2 days safari Tanzania
Short safari in the northern national parks of Tanzania! This safari is particularly suitable after climbing Kilimanjaro or Mt. Meru. Here you will get a first and lasting impression of the beauty of the landscapes and the variety of wild animals.
Day 1 Safari Tarangire National Park B/BL/D After breakfast your safari begins and you drive about 4.5 hours from Moshi to Tarangire National Park. This park is famous for its large number of baobab trees and the huge elephant population of around 5000 animals, where there are herds of up to 300 elephants. Sensational! The many baobab trees here are very impressive. Your driver will use as many paths as possible to show you as much of this fairly large park as possible. With a lot of luck you can see the 3 big cats lion, leopard and cheetah, as well as many other animals such as buffalo, gazelles, giraffes, various antelope species, zebras, various monkey species and many bird species. The evergreen swamps of the park attract a large number of birds (around 550). With a bit of luck you will also see pythons here. The park takes its name from the river of the same name, which runs through the park and is the lifeline for the large and small residents. It is home to the largest concentration of wild animals outside of the Serengeti. You will spend the rest of the day on game drives in the park and in the late afternoon you will leave the crater in the direction of Karatu, where you will spend the night on the edge of the Ngorongoro jungle. Sleeping altitude: approx. 1500 mDay 2 Safari Ngorongoro Crater B/BL/AEarly drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. First you will drive to the approx. 2000 meter high crater rim, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the crater, which is approx. 20 kilometers in diameter and is located approx. 400 to 600 meters further down. The crater is a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site and is one of Africa's natural wonders. Even Bernhard Grzimek was overwhelmed by its beauty. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to well over 20,000 large mammals. Due to the large number of wildebeest, buffalo, zebras, antelopes and gazelles, there is the highest density of predators in Africa here. Leopards, hyenas and lions can be seen. With a bit of luck, you will see hippos, elephants and black rhinos. In the afternoon, departure and long journey back to Moshi (hotel/lodge) or another night in Karatu if you are flying from Arusha Airport to Zanzibar the next day (additional costs!)
