Day 1 A

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in the early afternoon. Your tour guide will give you a warm welcome there. You will drive to your accommodation, the Meru View Lodge, which is located at the foot of Meru Mountain and close to Arusha National Park. First arrive in peace and acclimatize! In the evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner.Day 2 B/BL/AToday you will get to know Arusha National Park and get your first impression of Tanzania's diverse nature. The national park lies between the peaks of the two highest mountains in Tanzania - Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. Known to insiders as "Northern Tanzania in Miniature", Arusha National Park attracts visitors with its beautiful landscapes and diverse flora. Even the film world has already discovered the park and several films have already been shot here, the most famous of which is probably Hatari. On a hike with a ranger you will learn about the diversity of the area, which is green almost all year round, and you can get close to the animals. You will drive through dense jungle up part of the slopes of Mount Meru before heading to the Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater in the park. This is also known as the "little Ngorongoro" and with a little luck you will see the pretty black and white colobus monkey here. You will return to your accommodation in the late afternoon.Day 3 B/BL/D

In the morning you will set off for Arusha and from there on to Tarangire National Park, where you will go on extensive game drives. The park is known for its landscape dominated by baobab trees and the large elephant population that lives here. The Tarangire River with its swampy areas is a meeting place for many other animals, especially in the dry season. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and spend the night in a stylish safari lodge with permanent tents, which is located in a wildlife sanctuary that belongs to Tarangire National Park and borders it directly.Day 4 B/BL/D

After breakfast, the journey continues to Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania. On the way, however, you will make a detour to the rock paintings of Kolo. Here you can see paintings of people as well as animals such as rhinos, leopards and giraffes. It is believed that the paintings are more than 1500 years old. After visiting Kolo, the journey continues to Dodoma. Here we then drive to the Domiya Estate, which grows wine. In the evening there will be wine tastings, where you will be presented with 6 different wines. There will also be a cheese platter.Day 5 B/BL/D

Today the journey continues to Iringa in the southern highlands. On the way there you can of course stop at any time if you see something that interests you. After arriving in Iringa you will drive to Mama Iringa Lodge. You can then relax here or explore the surrounding area a little.Day 6 B/BL/D

Today you have the day free to visit Iringa, where you can visit Neema Crafts, for example, where over 120 disabled people make all kinds of handicraft products. You can also visit the market or other interesting things or places. Ideally, you should discuss with your driver what you would like to see or what he has to suggest. On this day only breakfast is planned, so you have the opportunity to enjoy local meals if necessary.Day 7 B/BL/D

Today we drive to Ruaha National Park, which is now the second largest national park in Tanzania. Ruaha National Park is a very diverse area in terms of landscape and offers a contrast to the more well-known national parks in the north of Tanzania, both in terms of the landscape and in terms of some animal species that only occur in the south. Ruaha National Park is home to the largest elephant population in the country. In the east, hippos, crocodiles and water birds can be seen on the Ruaha River, while in the rest of the park you can see herds of buffalo, kudus, gazelles, wild dogs and antelopes. The early morning hours and the late afternoon are ideal for animal watching. You will spend the entire day on safari and get closer to the flora and fauna of the diverse Ruaha National Park. In the afternoon, you will then head to the beautifully situated Ruaha River Lodge, located above the Ruaha River. Here you can relax after the all-day drive.Day 8 B/BL/D

Today we go on another full day of game drive in Ruaha National Park. The early morning hours and late afternoon are particularly good for animal watching. You will spend the entire day on safari and get closer to the flora and fauna of the diverse Ruaha National Park. You will follow the still fresh tracks and will certainly come across some animals today. Your driver will leave no stone unturned to discover as many animals as possible and to show you as much of this very large park as possible. You will return to Ruaha River Lodge in the late afternoon at the latest.Day 9 B/BL/DYou leave Ruaha National Park today, with the drive to the park exit also being a game drive. You will then drive to the Isimila Stone Age Site, one of the most important Stone Age sites in East Africa. Hunting tools, spears, slingshots, axes and knives up to 60,000 years old have been found here. The Isimila Gorge is also impressive and you will take a short hike to it. The gorge is a canyon with colored sandstone columns. These columns, which are up to 15 meters high, exude a mystique all their own. After visiting Isimila, the journey continues to Kisolanza Farm. After arrival, you can visit the farm.Day 10 B/BL/D

After breakfast, the journey continues past villages and interesting landscapes to the Udzungwa Forest Camp, which is located close to the border of the Udzungwa Mountains National Park.

Today we head to the Udzungwa Mountain National Park for a hike lasting several hours, led by a ranger. This approximately 6-kilometer hike in the Udzungwa Mountains National Park to the Sanje waterfall takes about 4 to 5 hours, and you will climb a total of about 450 meters. This very impressive, approximately 180-meter-high waterfall, which is surrounded by rainforest, offers great views of the Kilombero floodplains in the distance. Once at the top, you can go for a swim in the refreshing pool of the uppermost waterfall (approx. 40 meters high), which is surrounded by dense rainforest. Optionally, you can take a detour - either on the way up or on the way down - to the old Sanje Hotel below a large waterfall, with great views upwards. Here you can also go for a swim in the slightly warmer pool, as well as jump and dive. You can do the hike at any time of day, but it would be best to start in the morning when the sun is shining on the waterfalls. In addition, you would not be hiking in the hot midday hours. On this hike you could, with luck, see both species of colobus monkey. Many people use the old Sanje Hotel path both for the ascent and descent, but there is an alternative route that starts in the south at the ranger post. The route is a little longer and is used less often. This gives you a better chance of seeing monkeys more undisturbed. You will be picked up after the descent. The journey then continues towards Morogoro to the Kimango Farm.Day 12 B/BL/ADAfter breakfast or a guided farm tour (optional), you will continue today to the town of Bagamoyo on the Indian Ocean, where your driver-guide will leave you. You will be picked up here on behalf of Lazy Lagoon Island and then taken by boat to the Lazy Lagoon Island Lodge. Here you can relax at the pool or on the beach after arrival.Day 13 B/BL/AToday you can relax for a full day at Lazy Lagoon Island, or take part in one or another of the activities on offer. If you wish, you can also discuss with the lodge whether a visit to the former slave town of Bagamoyo would be possible. You would then have to pay for the possible excursion directly on site.Day 14 B/BL

Lazy Lagoon Island will take you by car to Dar es Salaam today – either to the city or to Dar es Salaam International Airport
