Tag 1     Tarangire National Park     BL/A

Your driver will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha (about 1.5 hours earlier from Moshi) and will then drive you to Tarangire National Park, the park in northern Tanzania with the largest elephant population. The many baobab trees here are very impressive. Your driver will use as many paths as possible to show you as much of this fairly large park as possible. With a bit of luck, you can see the three big cats: lion, leopard and cheetah, as well as many other animals such as buffalo, giraffes, various antelope species, zebras, various monkey species and many bird species. In the late afternoon you leave the park and drive to the town of Mto wa Mbu at the foot of the East African Rift. If you still have some time, you could buy yourself some delicious red bananas, for example. After Mto wa Mbu you drive up the steep slopes of the East African Rift to the upper land. From here you will enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Manyara National Park directly below, as well as the Maasai land in the distance. After a stop at the viewpoint, the journey continues up into the Ngorongoro Highlands and towards Karatu. Shortly before that, however, you turn right and drive to the Marera Valley Lodge, which is located about 2 kilometers from the edge of the Ngorongoro forest.

Day 2 Serengeti National Park B/BL/AAfter another early breakfast, the journey continues to Karatu and from there to the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. You then drive through beautiful jungle up to the crater rim. As this is at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, there can sometimes be fog. But if not, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire crater, which is about 20 kilometers in diameter and is about 400 to 600 meters further down. You then circle around about a quarter of the crater before continuing towards the Serengeti National Park with its almost "endless" grassy plains in the southern part that stretch to the horizon. The further you go towards the central Serengeti, the more trees and bushes there are. You will go on game drives in the Serengeti National Park until late afternoon. You then drive to the Narudi Tented Camp in the central SerengetiDay 3 Serengeti National Park B/BL/A

Today you will go on a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Your driver will do everything he can to show you as many animals as possible. This is also where you have the best chance of seeing the three big cats: lion, leopard and cheetah. You will return to Narudi Tented Camp in the late afternoon.Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater B/BL

After an early breakfast, you will cross the Serengeti and then drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down to the crater floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Here you will see animals scattered over much of the crater floor. With a bit of luck, you might see some of the last rhinos in Tanzania, as well as large bull elephants with large tusks. In the afternoon, just before the time allowed on the crater floor expires, you will leave the crater and the crater conservation area and drive back to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi. It will be a long drive today, so it would be very important to leave the Serengeti as early as possible!
