Important information and checklist Safari Tanzania
Important noteWe would like to expressly point out that delays, route changes or program changes can occur (due to unfavorable conditions, bad weather, organizational difficulties, etc.)! You should therefore bring a spirit of adventure with you, combined with the willingness to forego comfort and, if necessary, exercise tolerance and patience. massimo REISEN accepts no liability for the functionality of the personal equipment of the tour participants. This also applies if this equipment is borrowed or rented by the tour participants on site. If a mountain tour or round trip/safari is terminated prematurely, there is no entitlement to reimbursement of costs. The additional costs incurred as a result must be borne by the traveler themselves. Please note that our offer is subject to price increases by the local authorities (e.g. parking, concession and wildlife fees). If the fees increase, we reserve the right to adjust the price. In Tanzania, seat belts are compulsory for drivers and front passengers. For your own safety, however, you should make sure that you also buckle up in the back seat.
InsurancePlease remember to take out any necessary insurance before you travel (trip cancellation, foreign health, accident including rescue). Food & DrinkYou will be fully catered for on the safari, breakfast usually consists of a delicious buffet or a type of continental breakfast, supplemented with egg variations. Lunch on safari is very often a packed lunch. In the evening you will normally be served a "3-course meal" or there is a delicious buffet. Drinks are not included!
Photography Batteries can be charged in most lodges or camps. Please bring enough storage space with you. Please note that not everyone likes to be photographed. Please ask beforehand and accept a no! Indigenous peoples such as the Maasai expect payment for photographing their villages and fellow inhabitants.
clothing
On safari, you should not wear clothing in bright colors (red, yellow). Black and blue should also be avoided. Long clothing is recommended in the evenings. Please respect the religion and traditions of the population and wear sufficiently long trousers or skirts in public, especially in Zanzibar.
VisaGerman citizens require a visa to enter Tanzania. The visa can be applied for electronically before departure or can be purchased upon entry at international airports (e.g. Kilimanjaro Airport). Fees for Tanzania are currently 50 USD. Requirement: passport that is valid for at least 6 months upon departure. Current changes at: www.auswaertigesamt.de
VaccinationsYellow fever vaccination is required when entering Kenya from infected countries (e.g. Kenya, Ethiopia) and when entering Kenya from Tanzania! Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended for Tanzania/Kenya (e.g. Malarone or Doxi 100). We also advise you to refresh your standard vaccinations, hepatitis A/B, tetanus and polio. You can find more information on the website: www.crm.deNote: People over 60 years of age may not receive a yellow fever vaccination from the Tropical Institute. Instead, you can get an exception certificate from the responsible medical authorities (Tropical Institute) that allows you to enter affected countries.Subject to change!
CurrencyWe recommend USD/EUR in cash for Tanzania and Kenya, in small notes. You can exchange USD or Euro for Tanzanian shillings in exchange offices in larger cities or hotels. You can withdraw cash from ATMs in Mombasa, Nairobi, Moshi, Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Stone Town using credit cards (VISA) or debit cards. In some hotels you can pay with a Visa credit card! Please note that USD notes printed before 2006 are not accepted in Tanzania/Kenya!
Power supply/photographyThe power supply in East Africa is designed for 220/240 V 50 Hz alternating current. The current power supply in Tanzania/Zanzibar is sometimes poor, and long power outages are the order of the day. In most hotels, the power supply is provided by a diesel generator (which is switched off at night). Please bear this in mind when charging the batteries. The plugs are three-pin and it is advisable to take an adapter with you! Be sure to bring more storage media with you, as buying more is only possible to a limited extent in remote areas.
Telecommunications and InternetEast Africa has a relatively well-developed network of mobile phone and satellite connections. You can use the mobile phone networks via international roaming partners. This works without any problems in most larger cities. When making phone calls from abroad to Tanzania and Kenya, use the international dialling code: for Tanzania 255 (00255), for Kenya 254 (00254), followed by the area code. When making phone calls from East Africa to Germany, please dial 49 (0049)! Many hotels and lodges also offer email and internet services. In most cities, there are numerous private establishments and internet cafes that offer email services and internet connections.
