Experience the biggest sporting event in Tanzania in 2025 and take on the 23rd Kilimanjaro Marathon/Half Marathon. As optimal preparation, you can climb Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru or Ol Doinyo Lengai beforehand. During the Kiliclimb on one of the greatest natural wonders on earth, you will pass through all the vegetation zones on earth in a very short time. The nature on Kibo will enchant you and the Chaggas living at the foot of Kilimanjaro will inspire you. This tour takes you along the Machame route, which is the most varied. The descent takes place via the Mweka route. Afterwards, and well prepared, you will run the Kilimanjaro Marathon/Half Marathon and get to know the Tanzanian people's enthusiasm for sport. Arrival Tanzania A

Arrival (depending on the airline) at Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. After clearing up the entry formalities, your luggage will be collected and a driver from our agency will take you to your lodge/hotel in Moshi in about an hour. In the late afternoon there will be a briefing on the upcoming Kilimanjaro climb/Kilimanjaro Marathon with your mountain guide or with the agency manager, for all information about Kili! Overnight stay in a hotel/lodge in Moshi. Sleeping altitude: 880 m


Moshi - Machame Hut 3000 m B/BL/AToday your Kilimanjaro climb begins. Luggage that you do not need will be stored in the lodge. You drive for about 60 minutes, past banana and coffee plantations, to the Machame Gate at 1800 m. Here you register and meet your crew, who will accompany you for the next 7 days. Today's beautiful path leads through dense mountain rainforest and heather to the Machame Hut. Overnight in a tent at the Machame Camp. Walking time: 5-6 hours, altitude: 1200 m↑, sleeping altitude: 3000 m


Machame Hut - Shira Hut 3840 m B/BL/AYou leave the lowlands of the mountain rainforest and hike over a ridge relatively steeply uphill and then along it to your lunch break. From here, the peaks of Kibo and Shira are clearly visible. Then further ascent to the Shira Plateau, where we will sleep today. In the afternoon, you climb again to achieve better acclimatization. Towards the evening, the weather usually clears up, so that you can experience a wonderful sunset on Kilimanjaro, with Mt. Meru in the background. Overnight in a tent at Shira Camp. Walking time: 4-5 hours, altitude difference: 850 m↑, sleeping altitude: 3840 m


Shira Hut - Barranco Hut 3970 m B/BL/AToday you hike through a stone desert, approx. 4 - 5 hours, to the Lava Tower at approx. 4590 m. If the weather is good, there is the option for those who feel well to climb it (climbing at 2 degrees). After lunch behind a rock edge, you descend for approx. 2 hours to the Barranco Hut, which is located in a beautiful Senecia forest. From here you have a magnificent view of the mighty glaciated Kibo rim and the Breach Wall. Overnight in a tent at the Barranco Camp. Walking time: 6-8 hours, altitude: 800 m↑, sleeping altitude: 3900 m


Barranco Hut - Karanga Hut 4050 m B/BL/AAfter a delicious breakfast, we head uphill over the steep Barranco wall (250 m high - no climbing). Once at the top, you can enjoy the wonderful panorama and the breathtaking view of the southern flank of Kilimanjaro. After a descent and ascent, we head down into the deeply cut Karanga Valley (last water point on the way to the summit). Short but tough climb to Karanga Camp at 4050 m. Overnight in a tent at Karanga Camp. Walking time: 3-4 hours, altitude difference: 150 m↑, sleeping altitude: 4050 m


Karanga Hut – Barafu Hut 4650 m B/BL/AToday you climb steadily uphill through a spectacular stone desert to the Barafu Hut camp at 4650 m. On the way you have a fantastic view of Kibo. Lunch, rest and briefing for the summit day. Overnight tent in the Barafu Camp, walking time: 3-4 hours, altitude difference: 600 m↑, sleeping altitude: 4650 m


Barafu Hut - Kilimanjaro Summit - Uhuru Peak 5895 m - Mweka Hut 3100 m M/A. Around 11 p.m. the short night is over and you get ready to climb the summit. There are a few biscuits, tea and hot water for the thermos flasks. The climb to the summit begins around midnight. The path zigzags and over rubble through the night to Stella Point at around 5700 m. Shortly before Stella Point you experience a fantastic sunrise high above the clouds with Mawenzi in the foreground. Here at Stella Point you have to gather all your strength once again and then continue for around 45 minutes past the fantastic glacier fields to Uhuru Peak at 5895 m. You've done it! The highest point in Africa, a moving moment. Summit photo with a fascinating view of Mt. Meru, Mawenzi, the crater with Ash Pit and the last large glaciers in Africa. Then the descent back to Barafu Hut begins. Here you can rest briefly and have a small lunch. Then a further descent, approx. 3 - 4 hours to Mweka Hut at approx. 3100 m. On the way the landscape changes again and it becomes noticeably warmer. The camp is in the middle of a beautiful heather forest. Overnight in a tent at Mweka Camp. Walking time: 10-14 hours, altitude: 1300 m↑ / 2800 m↓, sleeping altitude: 3100 m


23.02. Mweka Hut - Moshi B/L/A You start relatively early today for the Mweka Gate at around 1700 m. The descent takes around 3 hours and leads through the magical mountain rainforest again. Shortly before the Mweka Gate, if you time it well, you can see colobus monkeys or blue monkeys. At the gate, you sign out of the national park and then, together with the accompanying team, you drive to Moshi to our agency's office. At a small party, you receive your well-earned summit certificates, the tip is given to the mountain team and you toast your summit success with a beer or two. Then transfer back and overnight stay in a lodge/hotel. Walking time: 3-4 hours, altitude difference: 1400 m↓, sleeping altitude: 880 m


Rest day B/AThe day is for relaxation, visiting the marathon fair with a guide and receiving the start documents for the Kilimanjaro Marathon or Half Marathon. The rest of the time you can relax in the hotel/lodge by the pool and enjoy your free time. Overnight stay in the lodge/hotel.


Kilimanjaro Marathon Moshi 2025 B/AAfter an early breakfast (possibly a breakfast package), you will be picked up by a member of our agency staff and walk or drive to the sports stadium, where the Kilimanjaro Marathon starts at 6:45 a.m. and the Kilimanjaro Half Marathon at 7:00 a.m. There are several supply points with fruit and water along the route. After the run, our team will welcome you with snacks and drinks (set meeting point). You will then drive back to the lodge/hotel and enjoy dinner and rest after this strenuous run. Overnight stay in the lodge/hotel.


Moshi - return flight to Germany You can use this morning (depending on the airline and return flight) to relax and unwind, or simply "let your mind wander". An optional trip to the warm springs of Maji Chemka is possible until early afternoon! Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport and return flight to Germany. End of an eventful active holiday in Tanzania and the service!
